From the rainforest edges of Nightcap National Park to the rich alluvial flats beside the Richmond River, every corner of the Northern Rivers tells a green story. The Steve Cubis family team creates premium organic mulch as a byproduct of our other arboricultural services. All that fresh, healthy green material is brought back to our Lismore yard, screened, aged and turned into a fragrant, nutrient-rich blanket your garden will love.
We recycle green waste from arborist work, turning what others discard into mulch that enriches your soil.
Need 10m³ for a garden or 15m³ for a park? Our trucks deliver across the Northern Rivers, rain or shine.
FEED YOUR SOIL & STARVE WEEDS
Big-box fertiliser bags are costly and many ‘mulches’ are nothing more than painted timber off-cuts. Ours is different. Born from genuine arborist work, the mulch still carries the subtle scent of eucalypt oil and the biodiversity of our volcanic soils. Perfect for vineyards in Alstonville, playgrounds in Evans Head, or your veggie patch in Ballina, it’s a choice that pays back season after season. Apply a 75-millimetre layer and you will:

GARDENERS SHARE THEIR STORIES
Yes, our mulch is great for most trees, shrubs and garden plants. It improves the soil and feeds the roots. But for more sensitive species, or if you've had a tree report that flagged specific needs, it’s worth getting more advice from our arborists.
Mulch acts as a protective blanket, significantly slowing soil moisture evaporation, especially during our hot, dry spells in the Northern Rivers. This insulation keeps the soil cooler, meaning your plants stay hydrated longer and you'll water less often. This is particularly beneficial after a full tree removal has exposed a new patch of garden to the sun.
Yes, our general-purpose organic mulch is excellent for most trees, shrubs and garden plants as it improves soil structure and adds nutrients. However, for sensitive species like acid-loving azaleas or specific native varieties, or if a detailed tree report has flagged particular soil issues, it's worth getting specific advice from our qualified arborists.
A layer of 50–75mm is the sweet spot. Too thin and it won’t suppress weeds effectively; too thick and it can starve roots of oxygen. Reapplication depends on how quickly it breaks down in your garden's micro-climate, but typically, every 1–2 years is about right. We can advise on applications for larger commercial landscaping projects, too.
Mulch has loads of upsides, but fresh wood chips can temporarily draw a small amount of nitrogen from the soil surface as they begin to break down. This isn’t usually a problem in well-maintained gardens, but it’s something to be aware of. It’s also important not to pile mulch directly against tree trunks or plant stems, as this can trap moisture and lead to collar rot. Our team is happy to offer tips on the best way to apply mulch when we deliver.
