Trusted Arborists in Lismore with 20+ Years’ Experience

For over 30 years, our family has earned trust through honest work, genuine care and a strong connection to the land. We show up on time, do the job properly and treat every property with respect.

Nurturing Trees, Protecting Landscapes

Arboriculture That Respects the Full Cycle of Life

Arboriculture begins underground. In basalt-rich Northern Rivers soils, roots reach through leaf litter and fungi networks, quietly supporting life above. When Steve Cubis founded this business in 1986, he made a promise to care for every tree with integrity and for every property as if it were his own.

That ethos still guides our family team today. We listen to the landscape, work with the seasons and respect the wildlife that calls each tree home. Whether we are walking paddocks, shaping heritage canopies or checking hollows for nesting signs, our focus stays the same; honour the life of the tree and the people living beside it.

SKILLS, SAFETY, STEWARDSHIP

Over 30 Years of Growth in the Northern Rivers

For nearly four decades, our family-run arborist team has expanded root and branch across the Northern Rivers, guided by formal AQF credentials, full $20 million cover and an obsession with ethical tree care day after day, season after season.

Those credentials mean every limb we lower is logged in a Safe Work Method Statement, every pruning cut follows AS 4373:2007, and every staff member carries Police and Working With Children clearances. We back that with ISO-aligned WHS procedures, GPS-tracked vehicles and peak-body memberships that keep our knowledge fresh.

But our work doesn’t stop at just trees. We are passionate about giving back to the community. Our team works alongside WIRES and Friends of the Koala when needed, assisting during floods or habitat checks to help protect wildlife and ensure safe outcomes for everyone on site.

TOUR OUR TIMELINE

Committed to Our Local Environment Since 1986

Every ring in a eucalypt records a season; our timeline records each leap in training, safety and community care that shapes today’s eight-person crew.

1986 — Steve launches with a single 4WD and an offsider, vowing to bring reliable, safety-first tree care to the Northern Rivers.

2005 — His son Jake begins an apprenticeship, absorbing every rope knot, pruning cut and wildlife check at his father’s side.

2010s — Jake earns his AQF Level 5 Diploma and steps up as Co-Director, cementing our father-and-son leadership model.

Today — That two-person crew is now eight qualified staff backed by a sixteen-vehicle fleet, $20 million public liability cover and full Police & Working-With-Children clearances, ready for anything from tight-space pruning to region-wide storm clean-ups.

From one person and a Hilux to a certified, fully insured operation, our roots run deep, yet we’re still growing. Track the next chapter by inviting us onsite, we’re here to help you care for your trees with confidence.

MEET THE TEAM

Here’s Who Turns Up When You Call Us Out

When our trucks roll in, you’re greeted by qualified locals, not random contractors. Each crew member wears ID, high-vis PPE and carries up-to-date licences. A senior arborist leads the job walk-through, a ground crew keeps the work zone tidy, and our safety officer monitors traffic and wildlife protocols.

Expect friendly introductions, clear timeframes and a spotless site when we leave.

Credentials & Compliance FAQs

Here are some common questions we receive about our qualifications, safety standards and how we operate. For anything else, please get in touch with our team.

Our whole climbing crew holds the national standard AQF Cert III (AHC30820) in Arboriculture. On top of that, our directors hold the AQF Level 5 Diploma (AHC50520). This higher qualification is what local councils require for signing off on more complex advanced reports for development applications, giving your project a smoother path to approval.

For your protection, we maintain a full $20 million Public Liability Insurance policy and are fully covered by Workers' Compensation. We’re happy to provide certificates of currency upon request, giving you total confidence when you book a full tree dismantle in Alstonville or need a stump cleared in Casino.

Absolutely. All our staff hold current Police and Working-With-Children checks, plus annual First-Aid refreshers. Our Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) are written to the SafeWork NSW Amenity Tree Work Code of Practice. This level of diligence is vital when maintaining safe trees in playgrounds or performing access work at sensitive sites like Lismore Base Hospital.

All our pruning work strictly follows AS 4373-2007 and Arboriculture Australia's best-practice guides. This commitment extends to our environment; pre-work wildlife checks use WIRES Northern Rivers koala-spotting protocols, and we recycle all suitable debris into nutrient-rich garden mulch, making sure no green waste goes to landfill.

Our specialised equipment, including our spider lift and Bandit chipper, is fully registered with SafeWork plant IDs. All operators carry the necessary High-Risk Work licences, and our lifting gear receives regular inspection tags for safety. It’s this well-maintained fleet that powers our reliable response to after-hours storm emergencies.
