From camphor limbs brushing solar panels in Ballina to overgrown gums shading homes in Alstonville and Casino, our arborists keep canopies in check. Formative pruning guides strong, healthy structure in young trees, preventing future issues.
Maintenance pruning, including deadwooding, removes hazards and boosts tree vitality.
RIGHT CUTS, RIGHT TIME, RIGHT TREE
Every tree is unique. From elegant jacarandas shading heritage verandas to sprawling figs and fruit-bearing mangoes. With over 30 years on Northern Rivers soil, we understand which branch unions are vulnerable in summer winds and which trees attract pests. Our seasonal maintenance plans help ensure your trees thrive year after year.
What you can expect:
Local Trees, Local Expertise
Our Cert III and AQF Level 5 arborists carry $20 million public liability and adhere to Australian Standard AS 4373. Whether we’re performing routine pruning on a backyard gum or executing complex dismantles over heritage rooftops, every cut is done safely, correctly and with respect for your property and the local environment.
Every green waste pile we create is chipped on-site and recycled, turned into nutrient-rich mulch available for your garden, or carefully transported to council composting programs. Before starting any work, wildlife habitat checks are performed to protect possums, microbats and native bird nests, caring for the local wildlife that has made this region home for generations.
Pruning for Health and Harmony
Pruning is an art and a science, especially in the diverse Northern Rivers. From macadamia orchards dotting the Hinterland to Norfolk pines standing sentinel along the coastal esplanades, each species responds differently to our humid summers and dry winter westerlies.
Enjoy more sunshine in your garden, safer outdoor living on your property, or clear fence lines on your farm. Expert pruning reduces risks from storm-prone branches.
For strata bodies and commercial property managers, regular pruning keeps your sites safe, accessible and visually appealing, meeting duty of care and local council rules.
Expert pruning maintains safety in public parks and school grounds, upholds commercial property values and meets compliance for community trees.

Understanding the best way to care for your trees through pruning can raise a few questions. Here are some common queries we receive from Northern Rivers residents. If you have others, please contact our team for advice.
This isn't a one-size-fits-all answer. Tree species (like a fast-growing Eucalypt versus a slower Jacaranda), its age, current health and specific location in the Northern Rivers all play a part. Young trees often benefit from formative pruning every 1-2 years to develop a strong structure that withstands our local storm season. Mature trees might need maintenance pruning or deadwooding every 3-5 years. Contact us and we’ll advise on a suitable seasonal pruning schedule for your trees.
AS 4373-2007 is the industry benchmark for Amenity Tree Pruning. It focuses on cuts that protect the tree's long-term health, such as avoiding damage to the branch collar, which is very different from indiscriminate lopping. Following this standard is important for the longevity of your trees and for meeting council vegetation management requirements.
The goal of professional arborist pruning is to enhance a tree's natural form, not leave it looking butchered. Techniques like crown thinning improve light and air, while crown lifting provides necessary clearance for buildings. If a tree has been previously damaged, corrective pruning may be needed, or in severe cases, full tree removal might be the safest option.
Deadwooding is the removal of only dead, dying or diseased branches, which is a crucial safety measure. Crown thinning is more selective, removing specific live branches to reduce the canopy's density. This improves light and airflow and can reduce the ‘wind sail’ effect during a storm, which is a common reason for our emergency storm damage call-outs.
All green waste is managed responsibly. We chip branches and leaves on-site, which can then be processed into quality garden mulch and left for your use. This sustainable practice avoids landfill and provides a nutrient-rich product for your garden. For very large jobs, we arrange full site clearing.
